Set in the early 1950s, the story follows Nicholai Hel (DiCaprio), a Westerner raised in Japan by a martial arts expert who trains him to become a deadly assassin and strategist. When Hel is thrown into solitary confinement at a Tokyo prison, the CIA springs him free on the condition that he assassinates the Soviet commissioner to China.

According to Deadline, Shane Salerno (Armageddon) will be penning the script alongside Winslow. John Lesher's Grisdi Productions and DiCaprio's Appian Way partner Jennifer Killoran will be producing. Warners believe that the film could serve as a potential springboard for their own Jason Bourne-type action franchise.
