THE BUTLER (Cast News)

  • THE BUTLER

Forest Whitaker
Forest Whitaker is in talks to star in Lee Daniels' The Butler, while David Oyelowo is joining the project as his son, says The Hollywood Reporter. The film is based on Wil Haygood's report on Eugene Allen's 34 years at the White House titled "A Butler Well Served by This Election."

Allen worked for eight presidents, starting with Harry Truman in 1952 and ending in 1986 with Ronald Reagan. Haygood will be an associate producer and researcher on the project. Haygood noted that when Allen started work at the White House, he couldn't even use the public restrooms when he ventured back to his native Virginia.

Oprah Winfrey is in talks to play the butler’s wife. Hugh Jackman, Liam Neeson and Mila Kunis are also said to be circling roles.
