DODGEBALL 2 (In Development)

  • DODGEBALL 2

A sequel to Rawson Marshall Thurber's 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is in the works at 20th Century Fox, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. The studio has hired Clay Tarver, best known for co-writing Joy Ride alongside J.J. Abrams, to provide the screenplay.

The original film starred Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn as rival gym owners who agree to compete in a winner-takes-all dodgeball championship. The sequel is said to follow a series of circumstances that will force Stiller's White Goodman and Vaughn's Peter La Fleur to join forces.

Vaughn will be back on the big screen this summer in Shawn Levy's The Internship while Stiller both stars in and directs The Secret Life Walter Mitty, opening in December.

Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld are attached to produce the Dodgeball sequel through Stiller's Red Hour Productions.

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World, directed by Alan Taylor and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins.

Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin

This certainly looks like the Thor film I wanted and expected from Alan Taylor and it has to be my most anticipated film in Marvel’s Phase Two.

Opening in theaters on November 8, Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

RATCHET & CLANK (In Development)

  • RATCHET & CLANK

Recently I just wrote an article talking about studios preference to to try and adapt Modern games, which are themselves cinematic, into films, over Classic Games, which have a thin story in comparison yet extremely fun. I stated that it would be better to develop Classic Games intoFilms and it looks like Insomniac Games agrees.

Insomniac Games announced recently, that an animated Ratchet & Clank movie is coming to theaters in 2015. "We’ve wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank’s action, humor and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it’d translate perfectly to the big screen," the company said today.

Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment are currently in production on Ratchet & Clank’s first cinematic adventure. Insomniac has a hands-on role with the film's production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting. T.J. Fixman, who has written all of the recent "Ratchet & Clank" games, is writing the script for the film as well.
