IRON MAN 3 (Cast News)

  • IRON MAN 3

Ashley Hamilton will be firepower
Ashley Hamilton is, according to Variety, up for a small villain role as the Marvel Comics character Firepower in Shane Black's Iron Man 3. Meanwhile, Jon Favreau has tweeted that, while he won't be back in the director's chair this time around, Happy Hogan will again be seen in front of the camera.

A relative unknown, Hamilton regularly appeared on the television series "Sunset Beach" and played a villainous role in 1993's Beethoven's 2nd.

Though he's been seen in various alternate iterations over the years, Firepower first appeared in "Iron Man" #230 in 1988, and is an experimental suit piloted by Jack Taggert. The character recently appeared in issue #513, enlisted by the Mandarin and Zeke Stane (the son of Obadiah Stane, played by Jeff Bridges in the first film) to destroy Tony Stark.

The third installment starts filming this month in North Carolina and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall and James Badge Dale. Black will direct from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce.

THOR 2 (Cast News)

  • THOR 2

Mads Mikkelsen looks like he may be taking a trip to the Marvel Universe, where he might be torturing The Thunder god’s gentiles like he has done to 007. Variety reports that the Casino Royale star is in talks to play a still-unspecified villain in Thor 2.

Mads Mikkelsen
The film will mark the third big screen appearance of Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Tom Hiddleston's Loki following 2011's Thor and this year's Marvel's The Avengers. Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander and Idris Elba have been confirmed to be returning for the Alan Taylor-directed sequel as well, though even more of the first film's cast likely to be back as well.

Mikkelsen is no stranger to Norse legend nor to tales of gods and men, having appeared in Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising and the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans.

Featuring a screenplay by Robert Rodat and Don Payne, Thor 2 is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2013.

The film is also said to include roles for Mel Gibson and Amber Heard in a storyline that sees ex-federale Machete (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop an arms dealer (Gibson) from launching a deadly missile.

Saldana recently finished production on the still-untitled Star Trek sequel and is now shooting Out of the Furnace.

Machete Kills begins production soon in Austin, Texas.
