DREDD (Sequel Talk)

  • DREDD

Judge Dredd
Surprisingly the remake DREDD, seems to be quite a good film, after the dismal Sly Stallone’s Judge Dredd in the 90’s it would have seemed that this franchise couldn’t get any lower. However, screenwriter Alex Garland has managed to surpass everyone’s low expectations for the film, and pulled off something that is quite a pleasant watch.

Alex Garland
With fans and critics equally loving the new Dredd, it’s not a surprise that Garland wants to get back to the franchise and write another story for the Judge.

At this stage, the studio hasn’t given the green light on a potential sequel, but that hasn’t stopped Garland from formulating a few ideas as to what direction it might take.

“From my point of view, the politics is a lot of what I want to get into," said Garland. "There’s a lot of stuff that’s implied in the first film that you could really explore a lot more of in the second. Dredd is part of a police state. He’s a fascist

The subversives are sometimes the enemy in the comic books - there’s something really interesting about pro-democracy terrorists, where the bad guys are the people fighting for democracy. Of course they’re not the bad guys, because you should be fighting for democracy. I would like to explore that.”

Well that definitely seems very interesting, and we very excitied to see in what direction will this franchise be headed. One thing is for sure you can expect JUDGEMENT!
