The Hype (How I Met Your S.H.E.I.L.D. Agents, From Biggie to Tupac & 2 Snow Whites??)

• HANSEL & GRETEL GET THE PHOENIX

Former X-Man and Bond girl Famke Janssen has reportedly joined the cast of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Janssen will play "the leader of the witches."

Tommy Wirkola directs the 3D Hansel & Gretel, “which stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as adult versions of the eponymous fairy tale characters who, having survived their childhood ordeal, now serve as bounty hunters out to get witches.”

We think this is definitely one to look out for! We will make sure we get the full details on it.

• CAPTAIN AMERICA’s FUTURE

 

The First Avenger hasn’t even come out, the full trailer hasn’t even been released, but Marvel has already got plans for the sequel under way.

The First Avenger's writers, Stephen McFeely & Christopher Markus, have been hired to write a sequel. The writing duo scripted the first film and Joss Whedon (the Director of the Avengers) was brought in to do a polish on their draft.

Chris Evans will reprise his role in the film, as he signed with Marvel to be in 6 films, but little is known about the story of the sequel.

We know that First Avenger is set with scenes set in present day, with the end of the movie rumored to involve Cap being frozen in ice. It's possible a sequel could pick up from this point and unfold in present day, the same time period as Whedon's Avengers movie.

• FROM BIGGIE TO TUPAC

Principal photography on Tupac’s life story film is scheduled to begin in May, June and will be directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Brooklyn's Finest); the film will be shot on location in Los Angeles, New York, Georgia and Las Vegas.

The film makers are still in the beginning stages of casting for the film.

The film, “chronicles the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist and actor, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East coast/West coast rap war.”

• HOW I MET YOUR S.H.I.E.L.D AGENTS

Captain America, Thor and Iron Man better move over, Cobie Smulders is set for the Avengers! For all you that don’t know, Cobie Smulders stars in How I Met Your Mother, playing Robin “Sparkles” Scherbatsky, and the beautiful actress is finalizing her deal to join the Marvel mega-movie, Avengers, confirming earlier reports that she could be playing S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill.

Like most of the actors that are involved in Marvels films, Smulders contract will tie her to the Avengers and other Marvel films for a long time, she'll be signing for nine films total!! Talk about a retirement plan!! While her character will work closely with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, but take note that in the comics, Maria Hill eventually took over S.H.I.E.L.D. herself. Even though Nick Fury doesn’t age, Samuel L. Jackson does!! So could Maria, be his retirement plan?? We will just have to wait and see…

• ABRAHAM LINCOLN MENTOR IS IRON MAN’s DAD

Two more actors have reportedly joined the cast to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Dominic Cooper who plays young Howard Stark in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, is in final negotiations to play Abraham Lincoln’s (Benjamin Walker) vampire mentor Henry Sturgess,  The Hurt Locker's Anthony Mackie will play Lincoln's buddy, Will.

Timur Bekmambetov will direct with Tim Burton serving as a producer. Filming starts soon for a 2012 release.

• 2 SNOW WHITES AND HOW MANY DWARFS???

Two Snow White films in one year?? Mmm . .. . This will be interesting!!

As we reported previously, Charlize Theron is up for the villainess role in Snow White and the Huntsman directed by Rupert Sanders and produced by Tim Burton.

We did say that Viggo Mortensen will play the role of the Huntsmen but that wasn’t true. SORRY!! The new Magneto, Michael Fassbender, is now the leading contender to play the titular huntsman.

Julia Roberts however, has signed on to play the evil queen in, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. The Oscar-winner will star in this upcoming untitled Snow White feature, based on the Brothers Grimm story, directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell).

The Brothers Grimm Story of Snow White, will be “a retelling of one of the most beloved fables of all-time, will eschew the traditional story in favor of a more modern tale full of comedy and adventure. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, a Snow White band together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to reclaim what is rightly hers.”

But that’s not all!! We have just learned that Disney is getting ready to breath there retelling of Snow White into life… Disney says they have a unique take on the story, and that it will be a live adaptation instead of there favored animation films. The film will be entitled Snow White and the Sevens. The dwarfs will be re-envisioned as Shaolin fighting monks.

This could mean that we could potentially see three Snow White films in one year?? That’s a tad much, don’t you think?.

• PROMETHEUS NO ALIENS

Prometheus was supposed to be Director’s Ridley Scott’s prequel film to Aliens. But now it seems that the film will be taking a whole new direction.

In mean time it seems that SA’s darling Charlize Theron has signed on to play a character called Vickers. The actress joins the previously announced Naomi Rapace (the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) who will play the lead female protagonist Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender (Magneto in the upcoming X-Men: First Class) will take on the role of an android.
