To be directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor), the film is an
adaptation of EA's popular video game franchise. The screenplay is based on the
game series, but is not based on an individual game. The film adaptation will
be a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car
culture films of the '70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the
video game franchise.
The trade reports that Paul will play a racer who also owns
a garage that upgrades racecars. He winds up getting framed for a crime he
didn't commit and returns from prison seeking revenge. Cooper's part is said to
be that of Dino, an entrepreneur in the world of car upgrades. Poots will play
an exotic car dealer who deals with guys.
Filming is scheduled to begin early next year for a February
7, 2014 release.
