Jeff Bridges, True Grit star, has signed to star in the comic film R.I.P.D.

The Hollywood Reporter says that, “Bridges will play the wise-cracking, spirit-hunting partner of Ryan Reynolds in the comedy about cops in the afterlife.”

Zach Galifianakis (Hangover) was originally attached to the role, to star alongside Ryan Reynolds, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

This marks Bridges' second comic book movie adaptation after Iron Man. Ironically; Bridges' favorite superhero is Green Lantern, who will be played by Reynolds.
