- BEN 10 GETTING HOLLYWOOD TREATMENT
One of the Cartoon Network's biggest players in the animated children's market is looking to make the leap from the TV display to the big screen. Ben 10, the beloved franchise that has spurn many spin-offs and sequels, is looking to be made into a live-action movie for theaters, thanks to producer Joel Silver.
Variety is reporting the developments. The series has always consistently done well in the ratings, and the television movie, Ben 10: Race Against Time, managed to draw over 4 million fans in its timeslot. If the film manages to hit theaters, Warner Bros. would likely be the ones distributing it, seeing as how they go hand-in-hand with Turner Broadcasting's home video distribution of the animated series and all.
Silver has failed to bring another animated franchise to the big screen with the flop Speed Racer, though in his defense, it's not exactly as if the material was fresh and new with audiences in the same way that a potential Ben 10 big screen adaptation could be, which is still a hit with kids of all ages. Says Silver regarding Speed Racer, "I tried to do [something similar] with Speed Racer and failed miserably. You always learn more from the ones that don't work than the ones that do work."
