- OLVIA WILDE SEEMS TO BE IN A RUSH
Olivia Wilde as Quorra |
Would seeing a love triangle between Thor, Jor-El and Tron
2's Quorra make you Rush out to see Ron Howard's next movie?
Deadline reports that Olivia Wilde has won the role of 1970s
supermodel Suzy Miller opposite Chris Hemsworth as Formula 1 racer James Hunt
and, possibly, Oscar winner Russell Crowe as screen legend Richard Burton (The
Spy Who Came in From the Cold, The Wild Geese).
Ron Howard will direct Rush, which recounts the rivalry
between racers Hunt and Austrian-born Niki Lauda (played by Inglourious
Basterds' Daniel Bruhl) and their Formula 1 racing teams, McLaren and Ferrari.
As Deadline recalls, "Miller fell in love with and
married Hunt, a handsome, womanizing driver, but the most interesting part of
their relationship is how Miller soon fell in love with Hunt's actor pal,
Richard Burton. Hunt and Burton famously negotiated a 'transfer' of assets,
with Burton paying the $1 million divorce settlement that Hunt owed Miller.
Burton and Miller were married shortly after."
Lest you think Rush is all about Hunt's romantic
shenanigans, the film's official plot synopsis says "rambunctious golden
boy Hunt fought his way into Formula 1, and into the hearts of a nation,
dramatically seizing the championship from Lauda and proving to the critics,
and more importantly himself, that there was real substance beneath the stylish
exterior."
