THE RUMORED PLOT
Well we got some rumors that are currently circulating around the Superman: Man of Steel reboot. Its rumored that large sections of the film will be shot in West Africa as well as the States side, and if its true it will heavily mirror Mark Waid's Superman: Birthright limited series.
Bleeding Cool uncovered an alleged plot synopsis for Man of Steel over at The Baseline Studio System:
"A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be."
This, in essence, is the same basic plot to the Birthright storyline.
Diane Lane, who plays Martha Kent in the film, recently said that the movie will cover Superman's life from infancy on, so that's in sync with Birthright's explorations of Superman's origins.
Well if this is the plot of the film, we will just have to wait and see how they plan on fitting General Zod into the film.
In related news, ChicagoBusiness.com claims that Man of Steel will film in the Chicago area for two to three months beginning in August, specifically in suburban Plano, Illinois. The production's not so secret local codename is said to be "Autumn Frost." One source said that there would be 10 weeks of prep followed by 10 weeks of filming there. "Outdoor scenes would be filmed here, with interiors shot in Vancouver, British Columbia," according to the site.
