- THOR GETS A SEQEUL BUT BRAGNAH DOESNT
Seeing that Thor has been had quite a successful box office run, managed to gain critical approval as well as please fans. Its no surprise that Marvel would want to have sequel to the film. The 26th of July 2013 will see that hammer welding god return to the big screen. But this does come as a bit of bittersweet news.
Deadline reports that Chris Hemsworth will once again be swinging Mjolnir as the central hero, however it would seem that Kenneth Bragnah has either decided not to return to the franchise Marvel has opted to go in another direction for the next film.
Now this will be some really bad news for the audience as well as fans alike. Kenneth Bragnah brought Shakespearean feel to a comic book film that has all these different FANTASTICAL elements and he made it work. He as well as the casting of Chris is the only reason that Thor was a hit with critics as well as fans. Without Bragnah actors such as Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) & Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) would of never joined this comic book adaption and with Bragnah not helming the next film there are already whispers that Hopkins & Portman might not be returning.
Thor co-writer Don Payne has already been kicking around ideas for a second film, though no details have slipped out just yet. But the hero’s story continues, of course, in The Avengers, which Hemsworth is now busy shooting alongside Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and the rest.
Now there is some good news. Marvel has stated that Bragnah will stay on probably as a Producer to give some creative input in the film.
But this goes without saying that whoever will take over the Thor franchise, they will have some major boots to fill and they better bring us a good story.
