Oscar winner Colin Firth was so close to being the
antagonist in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, but he passed on the project. So that
means Clive Owen could get the job instead.
Twitch reports that the Children of Men star has been
offered the villain role opposite Josh Brolin, who will play the
"oldboy" of the title. The site reminds us that Owen and Lee have
previously worked together on Inside Man.
Owen hasn't officially accepted the gig yet.
In other related news, Twitch says that Mia Wasikowska (Alice
in Wonderland) has been offered the female lead in the film. The part was
previously offered to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starlet Rooney Mara, but she
turned it down as well.
