- THOR: THE DARK WORLD
Variety is reporting that actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will
be joining the upcoming Marvel Studios film Thor: The Dark World, as he looks
to fill two roles in the film, well sort of.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to play Algrim the Strong, who becomes Kurse in Thor: The Dark World |
Adewale, who starred in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The
Bourne Identity, and played Mr. Eko on "Lost", will be portraying
Algrim the Strong and Kurse.
Algrim first appeared in Thor #347 and was one of the most
powerful of the dark elves. He is given the task of killing Thor by Malekith
the Accursed (played by Christopher Eccleston, who also appeared in G.I. Joe:
The Rise of the Cobra).
Algrim is betrayed by Malekith who tries to kill Thor by
allowing both the god of thunder and Algrim to fall to their deaths. While both
survived, Algrim developed amnesia from the event and is transformed into the
much more powerful being Kurse.
Well we chose Adewale for Black Panther and we chose Imogen
Poots (Who might be joining Captain America) for Enchantress. So it seems in
terms of talent I’m on par with Marvel, just that they not being cast in the
roles I was hoping!
Thor: The Dark World reunites Chris Hemsworth with Tom
Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Natalie Portman as the love
interest Jane Foster. Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") is stepping
behind the camera for its November 8, 2013 release date.
