August 8, 2014 to July 25, 2014.
Dwayne Johnson to star as Hercules |
This means the film will be released in between The Hobbit:
There and Back Again and X-Men: Days of Future Past, both set to be released on
July 18, 2014, as well as Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy, opening in
theaters on August 1, 2014.
Hercules is based on the Radical Publishing
"Hercules" comic books of which there were two series, "The
Thracian Wars" and "The Knives of Kush," both written by Steve Moore
with Cris Bolsin on art.
Dwayne Johnson recently spoke about his admiration for the
Greek mythological hero, describing this film as his passion project.
I really hope that the film does well, and seeing as how the
studio moved its released date between two mammoth franchises, I can only
assume that they have faith in the star as well as script. However, seeing as
how Brett Ratner will be directing this film, I’m concerned that The Rock wont
be getting the type of film that he has been so passionate about for so long.
Hopefully the studio’s faith in Brett Ratner will be rewarded, we will just
have to wait and see.
