Variety is reporting that Essence Atkins from the TBS show "Are We There Yet?" will be joining Marlon Wayans in his independent found footage spoof Smart Ass, which Wayans will be co-directing with Mike Tiddes.

Currently filming in Los Angeles, Marlon Wayans' directorial debut will spoof recent horror films like Paranormal Activity and The Devil Inside Me with regular Wayans' collaborator Rick Alvarez (Little Man, White Chicks) producing with Lisa Blum.

With Chronicle being another smash hit for the Found Footage genre, showing that all found footage films don’t really have to be horrors, while also legitimizing the genre.

So we guess just as the Genre landed on fertile ground, it’s a good time to spoof it, and who better to do it than Marlon who co-wrote Scary Movie as well as Dance Flick.

Atkins previously appeared with Wayans in Paramount's spoof comedy Dance Flick, directed by Wayans' nephew Damien Dante Wayans.
