TALE OF THE BODY THIEF (In Development)

  • TALE OF THE BODY THIEF

Thee Greatest Vampire Story
Remember when Tom Cruise played the vampire Lestat? Well, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment has just optioned Lestat creator Anne Rice's Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth installment in the author's best-selling book series The Vampire Chronicles.

The Lestat character was first depicted in Warner Bros.' 1994 film Interview with a Vampire, starring the aforementioned Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. In 2002, the studio adapted Queen of the Damned, Rice's third book in the series. And now The Hollywood Reporter claims that Star Trek and Transformers writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be producing Body Thief.

The story follows Lestat who, having grown tired of his life as a vampire, agrees to switch bodies with a human psychic for a day. Soon he discovers that the psychic has no intention of switching back. With the help of some friends, Lestat must cope with being human as he tracks down the man to get his body back.

The project is currently in development and has not yet been pinned to a studio. Lee Patterson is currently working on the screenplay.
