- THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
As The Hunger Games: Catching Fire gears up for production,
there are more casting possibilities for the film. This time they revolve around
the character of Johanna Mason.
Mia Wasikowska |
According to The Playlist, Mia Wasikowska (Alice in
Wonderland) and Zoe Aggeliki (model/actress R.I.P.D.) are up for the role.
Kristen Bell was campaigning for the role last year, and
surprisingly she's not in the running
As for Aggeliki, we don’t know anything about her really, as
for Wasikowska, she definitely has our vote, even though we think that the role
of Joanna, isn’t quite right for this bright young star, she might just
surprise with a flawless performance as she always seems to deliver.
Here's some information on the character for those of you
not familiar:
Johanna Mason is the female victor of one of the Hunger
Games (the exact Games she won is unknown) from District 7. She was one of the
youngest tributes in the Quarter Quell. She is the last living female victor of
District 7, whose principal industry is lumber.
Zoe Aggeliki |
In the Hunger Games that she won, Johanna pretended to be a
weakling, feigning hunger and fatigue, when in reality she was sly and cunning,
described by Katniss as having a "wicked ability to murder". Johanna
is proficient with axes, as she comes from District 7, where the main industry
is lumber.
It was previously reported that Armie Hammer, and Garrett
Hedlund were up for the role of Finnick Odair, and that Philip Seymour Hoffman
was offered the part of Plutarch Heavensbee.
The movie will be directed by Francis Lawrence The film will
hit theaters on November 22, 2013
Here's the description of the story of The Hunger Games:
Catching Fire:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger
Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by
defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be
happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life
of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and
Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The
Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
