- THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
Jena Malone |
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Jena Malone
("Hatfields & McCoys," Sucker Punch) is in the running to play
the strong-willed tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
We recently reported that Mia Wasikowska was up that same
role in the film. However, EW has now debunked that rumour, and now it would
appear that Wasikowska is definetly not in the running for a role in the Hunger
Games sequel film
The character is described in author Suzanne Collins’
bestseller as possessing “a wicked ability to murder,” winning her Hunger Games
by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes.
EW also pointed out that Joanna is naked when she first
meets Katniss, but with the studio desperately chasing a PG-13 rating for the
film, will they be willing to have this meeting play on screen as it was
depicted in the book.
More casting news would seem to come out of The Hunger Games
as USA Today revealed that WWF fighter Kevin Nash is currently up for an
undisclosed role in Catching Fire.
Kevin Nash in The Hunger Games... Awesomeness!!! |
Nash teased, saying, "I just pray it's recurring, that
he doesn't get killed."
There are only two roles that could suit Nash, and that
would be the role or Brutus or Chaff. But we have a feeling h will be playing
Brutus. His described as a Male tribute from District 2. He is mentioned by
Katniss to "can't wait to get back into the arena". He is in his early
forties, meaning he won his Hunger Games shortly after Haymitch Abernathy.
