Penelope Cruz |
- THE COUNSELLOR
Penelope Cruz has been confirmed for Ridley Scott's The
Counselor, Deadline reports. What's more, the site is reporting that the
actress will reteam with Pedro Almodovar for a comedy titled Los Amantes
Pasajeros (The Brief Lovers).
Cruz's fifth teaming with Almodovar has the actress joining
Raúl Arévalo, Carlos Areces, Javier Cámara, Lola Dueñas, Cecelia Roth, Paz Vega
and José Maria Yazpik. The plot is said to involve a love affair aboard an
airplane.
The Counselor, meanwhile, will have Cruz starring opposite
her real-life husband, Javier Bardem as well as Cameron Diaz, Michael Fassbender
and Brad Pitt.
An original screenplay by Cormac McCarthy, known for the
novels-turned-films "All the Pretty Horses," "No Country for Old
Men" and "The Road," the film tells of a present-day Southwest
lawyer who gets in over his head in the drug trade.
