The Plot, "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past
comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and
destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."
Naomie Harris will play a field agent called Eve. To prepare
for the role she's been doing yoga three times a week and taking courses in
stunt driving, as well as firing lots of machine guns, to which she's taken
quite a liking. Harris had long been rumoured to be playing Moneypenny, M's
coquettish secretary. But the character's first name was never specified in any
of the novels or films, so could Harris still be playing Moneypenny before she
sat behind a desk?
Skyfall will not feature Quantum, the shady criminal organization
that has been manipulating events in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
Mendes firmly stated that Skyfall is not directly connected to Craig's previous
Bond movies, and that the Quantum organization won't be returning.
There was a reassuring refrain uttered throughout the press
conference: There would be no shortage of action. It's almost as if they were
preempting any anxiety surrounding the appointment of Sam Mendes, given his
relative inexperience with blockbuster action and background in the theatre.
Despite assembling a stellar cast of award winners, Mendes said that his
objective wasn't to win an Oscar, stating that "Bond is for the audience
and only for the audience."
The director added that "action needs to coexist with
the drama."
