SIN CITY 2 (In Development)

  • SIN CITY 2

Rodriguez announced that the second Sin City film will be titled A Dame to Kill For, after the story from the comic by Frank Miller. It will also include a new wraparound story that Miller is writing just for the film titled "The Long Bad Night."

"There is a scenario where it could be shot as early as this year," Rodriguez said. "That would be he best time to shoot it. This is the closest we've been to shooting Sin City 2. If we're going to do it, it has to happen this year."

The film will be shot in 3D, he added.

Rodriguez introduced the next project by way of a clip, saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The video showed the title logo with the characters from Heavy Metal. A big fan of the animation magazine, Rodriguez has wanted to be involved in Heavy Metal even when director David Fincher was attached to the project. "It always inspired me," he said. "I just loved the idea of artists from all over the world coming together to show their best work."

In the spirit of the trailer contest that gave us "Hobo with a Shotgun," Rodriguez will accept submissions from fans, including story ideas, characters or worlds. You can find out more about the initiative at www.amd.com/heavymetal. The best ideas may wind up in the final film.

Among the other announcements, Rodriguez also mentioned that two sequels to Machete have been green lit – "Machete Kills" and "Machete Kills Again." When he said the third film would be a space opera, many in the audience thought he was joking. But, No he wasnt. There will be space babes and light sabers, he said. "To see a badass Mexican in space is really rare. So we thought it would be cool."
