MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 (Director rumour)

Christopher McQuarrie
With Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, making close to $700Million at the box office this year, making it the highest MI film to date, it was only obvious that a fifth installment would be coming to the big sooner rather then later.

"Deadline is now reporting that, “Christopher McQuarrie is the choice to helm the fifth Mission: Impossible film that is in the early stages of being put together by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. They will hire writers before making it official but he’s the guy that Cruise and JJ Abrams want.”|

Last year's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, directed by Brad Bird, earned an impressive $694.7 million worldwide.
Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner

Cruise previously worked with McQuarrie on Valkyrie. McQuarrie has also worked on the scripts for Cruise's All You Need is Kill and the Top Gun sequel, which is now in limbo after the death of director Tony Scott.

McQuarrie and Cruise most recent collaboration came in the form of Jack Reacher, which McQuarrie directs and Cruise stars. As t turns out, Cruise is happy with the results as both him and JJ Abrams want to McQuarrie to helm the next film.
