  • ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

Production on Anchorman: The Legend Continues is poised to get underway in Atlanta next week, as fans are understandably eager to find out what kind of shenanigans the Channel 4 news team will find themselves in.

The entire team from the first film returns, with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell writing the script, McKay directing.

Kirsten Wiig
Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate reprising their roles.  New additions to the cast include Kristen Wiig as a love interest for Carell’s Brick, Tamland and James Marsden as a fellow anchorman and “Ron Burgundy’s nemesis,” but plot details thus far have been few and far between.

We previously learned that the story of Anchorman 2 will revolve around the characters dealing with the 24-hour news cycle, and McKay explained to Empire that Ron’s personality will but heads with the 24-hour mentality:

“If he wasn’t a giant A-hole, everything would be okay. By the end he’s got to be a little less of an A-hole, but that’s still a little hard for him to do.”

The director also revealed that the film’s setting maybe moving from San Diego to New York City:

Talking about the move to New York city, McKay went on to say that, “San Diego is too close to Ron’s heart to go away, but we feel that New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen.”

Finally, McKay touched briefly on Wiig’s character and her relationship with Brick:

“Brick’s so far gone that you can’t have a relationship with him,” [McKay] laughed, admitting that Kristen Wiig’s character will be tempting him to do just that. “It takes a special someone to get a rope snare around his heart. She is dangerous!”

Anchorman: The Legend Continues opens on December 20th, this yea
