THE DARK KIGHT RISES

  • GOTHAM IS IN GLASGOW

The Daily Record (Scotland’s leading Newspaper) has reported that the Dark Knight Rises will be shooting some scenes in Glasgow.

THE FIRST LOOK AT TOM HARDY AS BANE
“Dark Knight Rises, which sees Christian Bale return as the caped crusader, will be filmed in the city, with Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine among the cast.”

Director Christopher Nolan will use shots filmed around Glasgow in some of exterior scenes in the final [installment] of his Batman trilogy.

Shooting has already begun in London and Croydon and will head north for several scenes early next month.

Nolan, who previously used Chicago to depict Gotham, wanted to use several different locations to create a Gotham nobody would recognize. A source revealed: "He plans to use various cities to provide a mash-up of what Gotham will look like. Glasgow was location-scouted for the last film Dark Knight, though in the end it wasn't used. This time, Chris already has several scenes in mind."

This will really turn out to be a Batman film like no other, as Nolan is also set on using Pittsburgh and Jodhpur, India and many European and American locations. This film will be a worldwide event, but will it be as classic as Batman Begins, and as epic as The Dark Knight?? Well it is Christopher Nolan, so we know it’s going to be thee best!!!

These are women who can run a small business, keep a household with three kids in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. Screenwriter Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man, Righteous Kill) has been tapped to pen the true crime drama Black Mass.

Screen Daily reports that Black Mass is budgeted at $35 million. The project based on the book of the same name by Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill.

Here is the film's official plot synopsis via Cross Creek's site:

"James 'Whitey' Bulger, an Irish street punk in Boston with a penchant for rape and robbery, spent much of his early life incarcerated, including a stint at Alcatraz in the 1950's where he was the subject of a CIA experiment using LSD for mind-control. When released, Whitey returned to his thug lifestyle and eventually rose to power in organized crime by using his FBI informant status to bring down the Italian mafia in New England. He and his fellow hood Steve Flemmi, fed incriminating information on the Italian mob to FBI agents John J. Connolly Jr. and Dick Morris, allowing them to make highly publicized arrests while Bulger filled the void in the upper echelon of Boston organized crime. Whitey Bulger reigned as crime boss into the 1990's until a corruption investigation disgraced Morris, who admitted to taking bribes from Bulger and, with Connolly's alleged assistance, aided and abetted criminal activities involving narcotics, extortion, and murder. Bulger escaped arrest and has been missing ever since. He remains on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List."

Whitey Bulger has served as the inspiration for Jack Nicholson's mob boss in The Departed and Jason Isaacs' character on the Showtime series Brotherhood

LOOPER

  • RED SUMMER LOOPS

Bruce Willis

Emily Blunt

Seems that loads of films are being picked up at Cannes this week, and one of the latest movies that has been picked up for distribution is Rian Johnson's third feature film Looper starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception), Emily Blunt (Gulliver's Travel) and Bruce Willis (Red), with the prolific FilmDistrict making a deal to distribute through Sony's TriStar label.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Johnson's film is about a futuristic mob contract killer, played by Gordon-Levitt, who sends his victims back 30 years in time after killing them to hide the evidence. That's all going fine until he realizes one of his victims (Willis) is actually an older version of himself. The movie also stars Piper Perabo, Paul Dano and Jeff Daniels.

This film seems like it could be one of the best films we will see when it is released. The date of release is still unknown; we think it will be a while before we see this potential epic-thriller realized on the big screen.

We will keep you posted.

HOUSE OF HORROR

  • HOUSE OF HORROR

Saw and Insidious director James Wan is getting ready to produce House of Horror, based on a script written by Max La Bella. He's tapped Spanish filmmaker Javier Gutierrez to direct.

The films’ synopsis, “The House of Horror is a horror-thriller that centres around a gruesome crime scene. The film is shot with a blend of found footage, interrogation video, news cameras and classical cinematography. The film focuses on the aftermath of a horrific massacre; five college students, brutally murdered inside a decrepit, abandoned home.

We are thrown right into the mix as the lead Detective, Mark Lewis, and the police department’s psychologist, Dr. Elizabeth Klein, question a suspect. The young man at the centre is John Ascot, bound by handcuffs in a mobile command station. During the interrogation, John explains everything leading up to the deaths of his friends.

We discover that they were amateur ghost-hunters, seeking out paranormal phenomenon at the abandoned house believed to be haunted. What started out as a harmless activity turned into something truly terrifying and more than they ever could bargain for. John explains to the police that he isn’t responsible for his friends’ deaths, but rather, it was the house. He tells them he believes the house is a gateway to hell; a place of concentrated evil.

We slowly witness an eerie change in John’s demeanour through the course of the movie. Things take a disturbing turn when John hints at the notion that he is possessed by the Devil. Detective Lewis and Dr. Klein are forced to unravel the mystery of how John’s friends were murdered. All this leads to a stunning revelation about the man they’ve been interrogating and a gut-wrenching conclusion.”

This could be one of the biggest Horrors for 2011, lets just wait and see how it turns out.

GOTTI: THE THREE GENERATIONS

  • THE GODFATHER TAKES ON THE GOTTI'S

Al Pacino has been cast in the upcoming gangster biopic Gotti: Three Generations.

Pacino will play Neil Dellacroce, an underboss of the Gambino crime family. Dellacroce has been described as the quintessential Mafia don, and was understood to be one of the few men that Gotti respected and feared. It's an interesting role for the actor who came to fame playing the reluctant yet ruthless mob boss Michael Corleone.

Al Pacino
Gotti: Three Generations will reunite Pacino with Barry Levinson, who produced Donnie Brasco.

The film will centre on Gotti's relationship with his son, who attempted to leave the world of organised crime. John Travolta has been cast as the 'Dapper Don' John Gotti Sr., but no announcements have been made as to who will play John Gotti Jr. as yet.

Gotti: Three Generations is slated for release sometime in 2013.

TEKKEN: BLOOD VENGEANCE

  • ANOTHER TEKKEN GAME, NOPE ITS THE MOVIE!!!

Now we almost completely forgot how horrible that real Live Tekken adaption was, however Namco Bandai have announced that they will release another Tekken film, in CGI, in 3D, later this year. The film will be release in July or August in the states, but we think it will take a little while longer to reach SA.

Talking at the Namco Bandai Level Up event in Dubai, Tekken-creator Katsuhiro Harada urged fans to forget about the recent straight-to-DVD Hollywood movie, as this is the first film project his team has been officially involved with.  This means it could only get better. Judging from what Namco did with the storyline of the game series, we sure that the film will be worth watching, unlike its predecessor

Youichi Mouri, who directed opening animatics for Tekken 5 and 6, as well as the trailer for the film, directs the film. YES WE HAVE THE TRAILER. IT MIGHT LOOK LIKE ITS FOR THE GAME, BUT NO! IT’S FOR THE FILM!

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D

  • TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

Lionsgate today announced that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, the next installment in the long-standing franchise, is set to commence production.

John Luessenhop, director of Takers, is in discussions to direct the film, which is to be produced by Carl Mazzocone. Mazzocone has managed to wrap up a deal for the franchise, which could see 6 sequels potentially being made.

"I'm excited to re-conceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy," said producer Mazzocone. "Our story picks up where the original left off. Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original -- in 3D!"
