OBLIVION

  • MISSION OBLIVION

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise is now locked in the titular role in Joseph Kosinksi sci-fi project, Oblivion, which has also officially moved to Universal, Deadline reports.

Oblivion (which has also been listed under the title Horizons), takes place in a future where humanity lives in the clouds, thanks to an irradiated Earth. When the lead character, a repairman named Jak, finds a woman in a crashed ship, his whole worldview comes into question.

Kosinski made his directing debut with last year's TRON: Legacy. He is also still expected to work with Disney on a remake of the studio's The Black Hole.

Production on Oblivion is said to begin this October with a $100 million budget and an aim for a PG-13 rating.
