Although Eric Bana had signed on to play the role last year,
Variety is now reporting that Gerard Butler has taken the lead in Robert
Luketic's diamond heist thriller Brilliant, being produced by Lakeshore Entertainment
based on the first screenplay by Gillian Gorfil, producer of Edward Zwick's
Blood Diamond.
Butler, who recently appeared in Machine Gun Preacher,
previously worked with Luketic on The Ugly Truth.
The film will feature the actor as a small-time criminal who
joins accomplished thieves in a diamond heist. Expect more casting
announcements to follow in the very near future.
