AKIRA (Update)

  • AKIRA

It's been clinging to life for awhile now through a change of directors and such, but the live-action version of Akira is not down and out just yet.

Variety's Showblitz reports that Warner Bros. is expected to make a final decision in the days ahead on whether or not to move ahead with the project:

"WB's seems closer to making a decision on whether to give the film a greenlight after the filmmakers gave a presentation on Wednesday to Warner execs that included a revised budget. Sources say most people are confident execs will be happy with the new budget ... but you never know in this town."

Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra recently replaced Albert Hughes at the helm of the on manga adaptation.
