FAST 6 & 7 (In Development)

  • FAST 6 & 7

With Fast Five (AKA Fast & Furious 5: Rio Heist) having muscled its way to financial success, you can’t blame Universal for shoving the pedal down on the next installment just as soon as physically possible. And with director Justin Lin avoiding most other possible projects to start preparing to work on the film, it would seem the studio is looking to capitalize on his loyalty and availability, plus locking down the cast’s services by considering cranking out the sixth and seventh franchise entries back to back.
According to the LA Times, while nothing is set yet, the studio has writer Chris Morgan coming up with ideas for a story that would connect across two movies, with Lin taking the Back To The Future/Lord Of The Rings/Matrix sequels model and film them simultaneously.
Though the currently untitled sixth outing is even now penciled in for a May 2013 release, that date could always be changed if more time is needed for the extended shoot.
Back to back sequel shooting appears to be back in fashion at the moment – Peter Jackson’s at work on two Hobbit films and just last week it emerged that Paramount was pondering the idea of making two new Transformers outings at once.
Jason Statham might be Joining Fast 6
Here is also some interesting speculation; Jason Statham as you should know is in talks with Universal to join Fast 6 and Fast 7. Talks are still in very early stages and nothing as been set in stone as yet, However when the Transporter star was questioned about him possibly joining the Transformers, he did say that he will not be joining the franchise anytime soon even though it looks interesting. This just makes us wonder could it be that Jason Statham is closer to joining Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese and The Rock in Fast 6 than we actually think??
Because the shoot will basically have him unavailable from 7-9months…

Let us know what you think…
