Vulture is reporting a rumor that "Reno 911!"
co-creator and star Robert Ben Garant will direct the Baywatch movie at
Paramount Pictures, however the studio has yet to confirm this.
Screenwriter Peter Tolan (creator of "Rescue Me")
previously revealed that his version has nothing to do with the show. He added
that there are roles written in for David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, but
that they would not play the characters they did in the series.
With the success of 21 Jump Street, Hasselhoff revealed that
the hopes the new Baywatch film would follow the same formula, with the mixture
of raw comedy mixed with a satirical view of the show.
Ben Garant is currently in post-production on Hell Baby, a
horror comedy he co-wrote and co-directed with his "Reno 911! co-creator
and co-star, Thomas Lennon.
