MAGIC MIKE 2 (Tatum might direct??)

  • MAGIC MIKE 2

After the surprise success of Magic Mike, a sequel went into development, with producer and star Channing Tatum poised to return. However, this time it would seem that the 21 Jump Street star, might be end up directing the film as well.

Since director Steven Soderbergh is planning on retiring from making films and instead switching to TV, he presumably wouldn’t be returning for the sequel.

The German site Filmstarts recently spoke to Tatum and Reid Carolin about the plans for a sequel.

Tatum has worked on three Soderbergh films (Haywire, Magic Mike, The Bitter Pill) where he probably picked up a few things from the director, however it’s also possible that Gregory Jacobs (Criminal), Soderbergh’s long-time assistant director and producer could get the job instead.

As for what the potential sequel would actually be about, Carolin went on to describe it as:

“You know, we are talking a lot about it. We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun. It’s a road movie sort of thing, where a bunch of strippers get back together. It’s more of a broad comedy. I don’t know whether it will happen or not.”

The report goes on to say that Tatum is in the mindset of giving priority to Magic Mike: The Musical at the moment.
