PROMETHEUS (R-Rated or PG - 13??)

  • PROMETHEUS

Quite possibly the most anticipated science-fiction film of the summer, Prometheus, is gearing up for release in June. Director Ridley Scott gave an exclusive interview with Empire Magazine detailing the long-running issue with the rating of the film and why he returned to sci-fi.

As soon as filming began, fans have been wondering as to what the film will be rated. When Scott was asked about an update on his thoughts towards a rating, he answered: "The question is, do you go for the PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R? Essentially, it's kinda R. It's not just about the blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful. I'm not an idiot, but I'll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can."

Though the Alien films continued without Scott's involvement, he could not understand why they didn't go to the next logical step: "I always wondered when they did [Aliens] 2,3 and 4 why they hadn't touched upon that, instead of evolving into some other fantastic story. They missed the biggest question of them all: who's the big guy [Space Jockey]? And where were they going? And with what? Why that cargo? There's all kinds of questions."

Hopefully, come June 8th, all the questions will be answered. Prometheus is definitely one of the must watch films of the year!
