Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life, The Help, The Debt) is
the latest talent said to be up for a role in the soon-to-shoot Iron Man 3,
Deadline reports.

The Tree of Life actress would play a scientist, said to be
the intellectual equal of Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. Although it's not
confirmed, it's possible that the role is that of Dr. Maya Hansen, a character
responsible for the "Extremis" nanotechnology that is said to be a
key part of the sequel's focus.
The news comes just days after it was announced that Guy
Pearce is up for the part of Dr. Aldrich Killian, a character from the popular
Warren Ellis storyline.
It would seem that Marvel are really looking to be building
on something quite “Marvelous” (couldn’t resist), and they seem to be doing it,
giving us a awesome Avenger film, but now also looking on making sure the
characters stand alone films are just as awesome as well.
Written and directed by Shane Black (and co-written by Drew
Pearce), Iron Man 3 also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle
and Ben Kingsley and is set for release on May 3, 2013.
