District 9 and The A-Team, South African star Sharlto Copley is in talks to
join Angelina Jolie in Walt Disney Pictures' Maleficent, says Deadline.
The site says he would play male lead King Stefan in the
film that will explore the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led
her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney's animated classic Sleeping Beauty.
To be directed by Robert Stromberg from a script by Linda
Woolverton, Maleficent is scheduled to hit theaters on March 14, 2014.
It was also announced this week that Copley will star in Old
Grave and play the villain in Old Boy.
