- IDENTITY THIEF
Following appearances this year in Man on a Ledge, Casa de
mi Padre and What to Expect When You're Expecting, Genesis Rodriguez has joined
the cast of Universal Pictures' Identity Thief. Deadline has the news, saying
that she'll join Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, Amanda Peet, John Cho, Clark
Duke, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Mary-Charles Jones and Jon Favreau in the Seth
Gordon film.
The film features Bateman's character as the victim of an
identity theft by McCarthy's character. Originally written for a male character
on the criminal end of things, the script was reportedly rewritten specifically
for McCarthy. Steve Conrad (The Weather Man, The Pursuit of Happyness) wrote
the first draft with subsequent rewrites by Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II).
Rodriguez will play a criminal associate to a crime boss
that comes looking for McCarthy's character after her antics cause trouble for
his operations.
