Cinderella Fan Art |
- CINDERELLA
Last month, Disney announced that Mark Romanek and Aline
Brosh McKenna were heading up a revamped take on the classic Cinderella story.
Now, Universal is playing catch-up by revealing a writer and director for their
own version of the tale. (Another Snow
White saga!!)
Variety reports that Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia:
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) will be tackling the script, with newbie
director Bruno Aveillan helming the project. Peacock will be rewriting an older
draft that was originally penned by Michael Dougherty (Trick 'r Treat). Details
on the project are slim, but it's probably safe to assume that glass slippers
and pumpkin carriages will be making an appearance.
In addition to Cinderella, the studios have been jumping on
all sorts of other public domain fairytales with upcoming projects like Hansel
& Gretel: Witch Hunters, Jack the Giant Killer, and five separate Peter Pan
projects.
