Hugh Jackman and The King's Speech director Tom Hooper have
found their Inspector Javert for Universal's big-screen adaptation of the
musical Les Miserables: Russell Crowe.

Variety reports that Crowe will play Javert, the obsessed
policeman who is on the trail of Jackman's bread-stealing do-gooder Jean
Valjean. Don't steal bread, man!
The film will debut on Dec. 12, 2012, with shooting expected
to start at the beginning of next year (prior to Jackman's moving onto The
Wolverine).
As for those who are asking if Crowe can sing, let us not
forget that he's also in a band called Russell Crowe & The Ordinary Fear
God (formerly known as 30 Odd Foot of Grunts).
