- INDIANA JONES V
Indiana Jones 5 the Happy Family |
At a recent 30th Anniversary screening of Raiders of the Lost
Ark, director Steven Spielberg joked about "burning bridges" with
Crystal Skull. But fans still want more Indiana Jones. So will Indy V ever
happen?
"We talk about it, yes," Spielberg said. "And
we're hopeful, so some day."
Echoing Spielberg's sentiments at the screening was a
surprise guest: Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford!
"Maybe Indy V," Ford said. "But I ain't going
to Mars!" Much laughter ensued.
Ford went on to express great appreciation for the character
and his experiences making all four Indiana Jones adventures, sounding very
keen on wearing the fedora again. "Next time I get a script for Indiana
Jones, I'd be delighted to play the character again."
Ford joked with Spielberg about how the director only casts
the actor in Indy films. From that, Spielberg dropped a bit of casting trivia:
The Beard offered Ford the role of Dr. Alan Grant in 1993's Jurassic Park.
(Wow, that would have made for a different movie!)
"My first choice to play [Grant] was Harrison,"
Spielberg said. He also explained how he went about making the offer, by having
the art department mock up art depicting Grant and the film's two kids - Lex
and Tim - running away from a T-Rex. The face painted onto Grant's was Ford's.
