- JUSTIN LIN GETS TERMINATED!!
Director Justin Lin may now be forced to exit the next
installment of the Terminator franchise. With rights owner Megan Ellison
pushing for a Q4 2012 production start date, Lin might be calling it quits for
Terminator 5 since the director has already committed to shooting The Fast and
The Furious 6 during that same time frame.

According to Deadline, however, Lin is still up for doing
both if they can work out a better schedule for T5. This seems entirely
possible since Ellison has yet to present a script or, as far as we can tell,
hire any writer at all.
Since purchasing the Terminator franchise rights at Cannes
earlier this year for $20 million, Ellison has been put on a clock to get the
ball rolling. Details of the agreement state that in 2018, certain rights
revert back to James Cameron. Nevertheless, this should be plenty of time to
produce and release the two films that will conclude the series.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, is still aboard
for the sequel. In fact, the actor has also managed to squeeze out a few
brainstorming sessions with Cameron, even though the latter is not directly
involved with the project.
