Brandon T. Jackson (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The
Lightning Thief) is in final negotiations to join the series as the Axel Foley
Jr. in the Beverly Hills Cop TV series.
Brandon T Jackson to play Aaron Foley |
Humor Mill (via Indiewire) reported on Jackson’s starring
role in the Beverly Hills Cop TV series.
Jackson will play Aaron Foley, a police officer on the rise who fights
to escape from under the shadow of his father’s legacy while busting the rich
and famous of Beverly Hills. Murphy,
whose character is now the Chief of Police in Detroit, will appear in the pilot
and guest star in episodes of the series from time to time.
Murphy starred in three feature films between 1984 and 1994
in the franchise that grossed well over $700 million worldwide. His first starring vehicle, the original
Beverly Hills Cop featured Murphy as the Detroit-born Detective Axel Foley who
follows a case to Beverly Hills in a comedic culture clash blended with a
hard-boiled detective story. The film
was even nominated for a Best Writing Oscar.
Jackson, meanwhile, has his comedic roots in common with
Murphy, as he started doing stand up and even opened for Wayne Brady and Chris
Tucker after moving to Los Angeles. He’s
also got something in common with Foley as a Detroit-born youth who followed
his career to Hollywood.
