- xXx 3D
While promoting his latest film, Alex Cross, director Rob
Cohen also had a few things to say about the status of xXx 3. Namely, he's
trying to bring Vin Diesel's Xander Cage back to life, and he wants to do so in
3D.
"We did all new extreme sports things," Cohen told
Crave Online. "I don't know if you saw my Verizon wingsuit commercial, I
had been preparing the climax of xXx 3D to be a wingsuit sequence, an actual
physical fight in the air at terminal velocity. So that commercial was a
warmup." You can check out that commercial in the video below for a better
idea of what Cohen has in mind:
As for getting Diesel back to reprise his role... well, that
might be a little tricky. It took years for Cohen and Diesel to reconcile their
differences following a rocky production on the set of xXx. In fact, the
director was so put off at the time that he proclaimed Xander Cage dead in the
sequel, which starred Ice Cube instead. Explained Cohen, "Well, I was so
mad at Vin at that time but yes, I always felt like that was like an oddity and
that we would want to bring him back and give him a backstory."
Even still there's also the fact that Diesel is currently
caught up in another action franchise at the moment. "I'm just waiting for
Vin to get his head out of doing back to back Fasts to sit down and really get
him to focus on doing xXx 3D," Cohen said.
Cohen also noted that he already has most of the story
planned out, including the new villains. "He's up against a brother and
sister, twins who are doing terrible things," he said.
