- SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS
Fan Art of Shadow of the Colussus |
In development for some time, Sony Pictures' video game
adaptation Shadow of the Colossus appears to have found a director. Deadline is
reporting that Josh Trank, who made his feature debut earlier this year with
20th Century Fox's Chronicle, has signed on to helm.
Colossus, which was released exclusively on the PlayStation
2 in 2005, revolves around a man named Wander who must travel across a cursed
wasteland and defeat 16 creatures, known as the colossi, in order to restore
the life of a girl.
Trank is lining up a number of high-profile projects at
various studios. Also at Sony, he's said to be attached to direct the
Spider-Man spinoff Venom, while at Warner Bros., he's to helm the comic book
adaptation The Red Star. Meanwhile, Trank's name has been connected with 20th
Century Fox's reboot of Fantastic Four as well.

However, has a Trank is a self confessed video game fanatic,
you can expect that Colossus will really be something quite exciting and
extraordinary and probably the best
game-to-film adaption we will ever see, if Trank approaches it with same
mastery and dedication he showed when making Chronicle.
