Philip Seymour Hoffman has plans to direct Keith Bunin's
original screenplay, Ezekiel Moss, Variety reports. The project landed near the
top of 2011's "Black List" of unproduced screenplays with the
following official logline:
“A mysterious stranger who possibly has the power to channel
the souls of the dead changes the lives of everyone in a small Nebraska town,
especially a young widow and her 11-year-old son.”
The trade notes that the project, set in the 1930's, is set
up at Mandalay Pictures with Stefanie Azpiazu, Anthony Bregman and Cathy
Shulman, Adam Stone and Emily Ziff producing.
Hoffman, whose sole directing credit so far is 2010's Jack
Goes Boating, headlines Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master.He will also soon
take on the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
