Harrison Ford has officially signed on to the sci-fi adventure film Ender's Game, joining a cast of kids that are collectively about 800 years younger than the former Han Solo.

Variety confirms the casting, which had been previously rumored. Ford will play Colonel Hyrum Graff, the man charged with training young recruits at a military academy in a future world where Earth is facing off against an alien insect race.

Asa Butterfield (Hugo) plays the title character, "a genius strategist who's recruited by the government" in its battle against the aliens. Abigail Breslin and Hailee Steinfeld also star. Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is writing and directing the adaptation of the Orson Scott Card novel.

Other young actors who have joined the project include Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak, Suraj Parthasarathy, Conor Carroll and Khylin Rhambo.
