Lily Collins is the first cast member to join the upcoming big-screen
remake of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead, Bloody Disgusting reports. She'll play the
part of Mia, a drug addict who heads to a cabin in the woods with her friends
in an effort to detox.
Fede Alvarez, who will direct the film, wrote the script
with Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody did revisions on the draft.
In this retelling, five friends hole up at a remote cabin
where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed possessing
each until only one is left to fight for survival.
Collins recently appeared in Abduction and will soon play
Snow White in the upcoming Mirror Mirror.
The Evil Dead will begin production shortly in New Zealand,
planning an April 12, 2013 release.
