300: BATTLE OF ARTEMISIA (In Development)

  • 300: BATTLE OF ARTEMISIA FINALLY IN WORKS!!

Xerxes - 300: Battle of Artemisia
It's been a few months since word broke that Noam Murro (Smart People) would be helming the 300 quasi-sequel, 300: Battle of Artemisia. producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari spoke about the project at the junket for their latest, Immortals.

"We have to say that Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, his writing partner, have killed it," said Canton of the screenplay. "They've done a tremendous job making a highly intelligent, epic story that will stand on its own. But it's not a conventional sequel and, for what we do, that's what you hope and pray for. That you can be original and authentic at the same time."

There's no announced timeline for the project as of yet, but Nunnari says that it's now officially "a work in progress... as opposed to a year ago where it was just something we wanted to do."

As for the rumors of a potential Gerard Butler cameo (as Frank Miller has said that Leonidas appears in his graphic novel, Xerxes, of which the film is somewhat based), Canton played it coy.
