Octavia Spencer has joined the cast of David Talbert's
Baggage Claim, Deadline reports. Set up at Fox Searchlight, the film is set to
star Paula Patton and Derek Luke.

The film, written and directed by David E. Talbert and based
on his own 2005 novel, centers on the thirty-something Montana Moore, who,
frustrated with being single, embarks on a 30-day, 30,000-mile barnstorm across
America to find an appropriate suitor. Along the way she encounters several
interested prospects, including a preacher, a politician and a tycoon.
Spencer, who won an Academy Award for her performance in
last year's The Help, can soon be seen in the upcoming Smashed.
